Cynthia Black, Baroque Violin

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Cynthia Black performs across the United States as a baroque violinist and violist. This season includes appearances with the American Bach Soloists, the Washington National Cathedral Baroque Orchestra, Les Délices, Chatham Baroque, Seraphic Fire, Bourbon Baroque, and the Carmel Bach Festival. She is a founding member of the newly formed Costanoan Trio dedicated to performing the piano trio repertoire from the late 18th- and early 19th-centuries.

Cynthia completed doctoral studies at Case Western Reserve University where she studied baroque violin with Julie Andrijeski and holds modern viola degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music from the studios of Lynne Ramsey and Robert Vernon. A recent transplant to Berkeley, California, Cynthia teaches a studio of young musicians at the Crowden School’s Community Program and in her spare time enjoys making ice cream and bundt cakes.
